Nicholas founder of the great amasing project OLPC (One Laptop per Child) programme, has announced the next generation of the XO- the 188$ pint sized PC designed for school childrenin developing countries. At an event at MIT media lab in Cambridge, Nicholas released photos of new version of XO-2. OLPC also aims to cut the XO’s energy use to 1 watt!!!, compared to 2 watts for current XO. The new target of XO series is a 75$ laptop.. XO-2 will be ready for delivery by 2010. It has a touch sensitive display which’s very cool. Multi touch screens that can function as a dual display is another great feature of XO-2 series laptops.

IBM has developed a one peta flop super computer that runs on open source operating system Linux from red hat. The computer is named “Roadrunner’ and is built for the Dept. of Energy’s National nuclear security administration. It will primarily be used to ensure safety and reliability of the nations nuclear weapons stock pile and for research into astronomy, energy, human genome science & climate change.

Costing about $100 million, road runner is twice as fast as the current No.1 IBM blue gene system at Lawrence Livermore National Lab. It is the worlds first hybrid supercomputer with mixture of i86 opteron processors running on IBM LS-21 blade servers & cell processors running on IBMS QS22 servers. The machine is composed of a total 3060 blades.

Today I bought a Virgin set & had a play with it. Well I am so happy to deal with it, which offers great services that others dont do.
