Electronics and IT goods makers like HCL Infosystems, LG Electronics and Zenith are raising prices of electronics goods like personal computers including laptops and desktops, LCD’s and Plasma TV’s. and also It peripherals to as much as 13 percent to offset the cost of higher inputs triggered by a falling dollar. The move may nudge inflation furtherĀ crimping consumer spending.
Samsung, too is mulling a price hike. computer makers import almost 90 percent of inputs used in the manufacture of PC’s. For LCD monitors the gravity of the situation is compounded by the fact that customs duty is based on the maximum retail price. Globally, LCD monitors panel prics have been risen by around by 5 percent.
LG target prices hike of 7 to 10 percent. However, it will be increased in a phased manner starting with a 3 percent hike with immediate effect.
