Soon you would be able to recharge your gadgets wirelessly without having to require power cords. Intel has increased the efficiency of a technique of wireless powering consumer gadgets and computers- a development that could allow you to simple place a device on a desktop or counter top to power it .
The chipmaker says it can a magnetic field to broadcast. Up to 60 watts of power up to a meter aways, losing only 25 per cent of the power in transmission “something like this technology could be embedded in tables and work surface “said Justin Rattner, Intel’s chief technology officer, “so as soon as you put down an appropriately equipped devices ,it would immediately begin drawing power”
The project, Which is being led by Joshua R.Smith, an Intel researcher, builds on the work of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) physicist Marin Solijacic, who pioneered the idea of wirelessly transmitting power using resonant magnetic fields. Both the MIT group and the Intel researchers are exploring a phenomenon known as ‘resonant induction’ making it possible to trasmit power several metres without wires.
